Amazing Grace

The soul whom the Son sets free

is free indeed,

Unlocking the rusting shackles

of oppression,

Allowing life’s amazing grace

to shine with His embrace,

Transformation of soul’s darkness

to light’s brightness,

The uplifting revelation of God’s

truth of freedom,

His extraordinary and infinite power

shining love every hour,

Preservation and hope for life

His love abound, no strife

How sweet the sound—

Wrapped in His embrace

Singing Amazing Grace!

Yummy Breakfast (Epulaeryu)

Bacon, eggs, toast on the side
This breakfast is nice
Not one drop going to waste
Black coffee to taste
Biscuits and gravy
Buttered grits?
Yum!

If I Were A Paycheck…
By Jonathan Clarence Parrish Spence

If I were a paycheck I would scream!!!
I would have a billion questions to ask.
How much money am I worth? Who do I belong to?
Am I stolen? Have I been spent?
I would go from place to place.
I would go from hand to hand
Or maybe even from pipe to pipe!!
Was I forgotten about?
Am I the center of somebody’s life?
Would I be turned into cash?
Would I be torn up?
Or would I be thought of as a lie
That no one thought
About?
If I were a paycheck I would scream!!!

The Island Flavor
By Sheila M. Parrish-Spence

Many tastes are gratified at the Caribbean Palm

Succulent treats from nations to make you calm

African, Chinese, Spanish, West Indian, and French

Sit on the bench and your thirst too will be quenched

Have a tasty patty filled with lamb, and nice seasoning

Ackee and salt fish with coconut drink while reasoning

Smell a tasty dish of calloloo with peas and rice to taste

Finish with a mango dessert that's easy on your waist

Have a lively treat there today sitting next to the bay

Listen to the calypso and reggae music they love to play

An array of treats for the mind, body and soul any day

Don't delay, make it a date, and relax while you stay!    __________________________________________________

  Angel Beauty (Double Reversed Tetractys)

She is the angel who walks in the light

Her sight melts hearts

Her beauty

And smile

Charm

Brings

Such joy

With a touch

Smells like a rose

Enlightening hearts with precious joy and love!

Love Is Shown In Many Ways

By Joseph S. Spence, Sr.

 Gifts alone are great thoughts

     Breakfast in bed brings wonders

A walk in the park gets even closer

Holding hands on the beach is finer

Love is shown in many ways

Dinner at candlelight is romantic

Watching the leaves change is fantastic

Sitting on the mountaintop is grander

Listening to birds sing is heart warming

Love is shown in many ways...

Watching the waves roll in is awesome

Enjoying your favorite movie is relaxing

Placing diamonds on her fingers is adorable

Playing and praying together is sincere

Love is shown in many ways...

Being in love

   Filled with love

       Expressing love

           Living love

Love is shown in many ways

Glory on High

Believe it and achieve it

Look at it and go for it

Heads up

Shoulders back

Eyes open

Reach for it

Motivation high

Aspiration toward the sky

Inspiration never dies

Barriers down

Ceilings crashed

Mountains moved

Ain’t going back

Heading for the top!

Author’s Comments:  This is dedicated:  To those with the burning spirit. Don’t be hoodwinked into mediocrity.  Shake it off and move up; you can do it!

Your Time Has Come (Prose Poetry)

Your time has come like the rising sun.  Stand up for life created by God’s love as the dove descends from above.  He has a plan for you to be one with Him as He is with you thus making you brand new.  Your life should be more than just the ordinary existence, let Him strengthen you as your soul runs the distance.  Be filled with His spirit and let your light shine.  Manifest His joyful glory and overcome obstacles in His name while unto Him you render an acclaim.  Move ahead and be the lighthouse of strength without relenting; thus ascending from the bottomless pit into His eternal light of creation. Experience the fullness of your destiny with God in the middle of your future.  Build your foundation in His word and spirit.  Empower your soul with His tenacity; He will determine your capacity.  Be anointed by His grace and experience the reality of not just a dream.  A light lit for living liturgy. He has you covered with His Holy Spirit.  Now step out—your time has come!

While You Were Asleep

While you were asleep,
I held your tiny hands in my own,
and meditated on the warmth I found
therein.

While you were asleep,
my eyes happened upon yours
and a strong feeling came forth
from within.

While you were asleep,
I wrote poetry
and thoughts
such as the world has never seen.

While you were asleep
my little brother,
the Cherubic King.
I was afraid to breath.
for fear that this might all be a dream....

While you were asleep.

Author’s Comments:  This is a replica of a poem I wrote about my brother, Jonathan, during one of my visits when he was a toddler. I can’t find the original with the date on it though...

enjoy!
